Hard OLED vs Soft OLED Different, advantage and disadvantage

June 17, 2022 0 Comments

Hard OLEDs are made of a hard glass substrate (Hard Orangic Light Emitting Diode)

Hard OLED manufacturing process is very mature and everything is easy to control. Although glass material has its advantages, it is relatively fragile and easily broken. Shock and deformation can crack the glass. Therefore, care must be taken when installing the iPhone screen. Due to the material limitations of hard OLEDs, there is a slightly larger border between the bottom of the display and the bottom of the frame.

Advantage:

  • Lower price
  • Reliable manufacturing process
  • resistant to screen burn-in

Disadvantage:

  • More fragile than soft OLED
  • Bottom bezel is bigger than original

Soft OLEDs are made of a flexible plastic substrate (Soft Orangic Light Emitting Diode)

Soft OLED is more resistant to shock and slight deformation, which means it's a great option for end-users who frequently drop their devices. The lifespan of LEDs in soft OLEDs is shorter, and soft OLEDs have a greater risk of burn-in (image persistence). Soft OLED also increases the chance of green or purple lines.

Advantage:

  • The screen size is the same as the original
  • Same material type used on the original

Disadvantage:

  • Lifespan is shorter
  • Expensive price
  • Prone to burn-in
